Help Oklahoma Relief!

How To Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

At least 51 people – including seven children at an elementary school – were killed when a massive tornado struck an area outside Oklahoma City yesterday. Seven children were killed at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma. The tornado was estimated to be at least 2 miles wide at one point as it moved through Moore, in the southern part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Within hours, relief organizations were getting out the message on how to help:

American Red Cross:You can donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund and give blood at your local hospital or blood bank. Visit www.redcross.org/charitable-donations. Send a $10 donation to the Disaster Relief fund via text message by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999.

Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief:Sonations will “go straight to help those in need providing tree removal services, laundry services and meals to victims of disasters.” It is requesting monetary donations and says clothing is NOT needed. Visit www.okdisasterhelp.com/2013/05/disaster-relief-how-to-help.

Salvation Army:Sonate online via http://salvationarmyusa.org. You can also text the word STORM to 80888 to make a $10 donation via cellphone.

United Way of Central Oklahoma:The organization says “ monetary donations are the best way to assist. Visit www.unitedwayokc.org.

Feeding America:Through its network of more than 200 food banks, Feeding America plans to deliver truckloads of food, water and supplies to communities in need. Visit https://secure.feedingamerica.org.

Bittersweet Promises- Del Norte High School Dance

Del Norte High School Dance presents "Bittersweet Promises" on Thursday, Friday and Saturday May 23rd-May 25th. at 7:00pm. This performance will be held in the Crescent Elk Auditorium with tickets available at the door. Tickets are at a cost of $10.00 Adults, $5.00 Students, $3.00 Kids 6-12, FREE for Kids under 5.

Successful Gardening Class- Community Food Council For DN County and Adjacent Tribal Lands will be holding this free class on Saturday May 25th. from 10:00am-12:00pm. Join them at the Wellness Center Community Garden on Washington & Northcrest to learn basic steps to growing your own vegetables. Free admission to everyone! Ages 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Clue the Musical- AUDITIONS!

Swimming Lessons- Fred Endert Municipal Pool

Fred Endert Municipal Swimming Pool is offering Swimming Lessons from May 14th. - May 30th. Lessons are offered Monday & Wednesday or Thuesday & Thursday. (3:00pm, 3:30pm, 4:00pm, 4:30pm, or 5:00pm) for a total of 3 weeks. This 3 week course is at a fee of $32.50 for 6 and older or $37.50 for 3-5 years old. Run for the Pool! Marathons

Fred Endert Municipal Swimming Pool will be holding "Run for the Pool" Marathons on Saturday June 1st. The races will include 1/2, 1, 2, 5 and 10K events. Starting location is the pool parking lot. Registration begins at 10:00am. and the races start at 11:00am. Registration can be picked up at the pool of by calling 707-218-6781. 

Riding for a Cure- Poker Run! American Cancer Society, Relay for Life

American Cancer Society, Relay for Life will be hosting Riding for a Cure-Poker Run on Saturday June 1st. starting at 9:00am. Registration will begin at 7:00am. The run will start at the Chart Room parking lot, 130 Anchor Way. The ride will take you up Hwy 199 to Cave Junction  and end at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds with a BBQ, Music and Fun! All proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Pre-Register by May 1st. to be included in a special drawing. Contact 707-954-2467 for additional information.
